Dear Friends,
Happy Holidays! We have 3 bundles of cheer we’re excited to share with you.
First, we posted our first C4A Academy case study in October. Six-year-old Leon goes from crawling around the room to typing his thoughts in six months. The 14 videos of his journey include session summaries that highlight the skills he is working on and my commentary to give a nonspeaker’s perspective. We are excited to share more of his journey in the New Year.
Second, we launched Regulation 4 ALL with a study funded by the Hilibrand Foundation. Communication 4 ALL partnered with Rutgers professor Elizabeth Torres, PhD and recruited 50 nonspeakers to measure their heart rate variability (HRV) and facial micro movements for three months. This research supports our ultimate goal: an app to help anyone, including nonspeakers, get out of fight-or-flight dysregulation and back to HRV safe mode.
Third, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our next ten C4A Academy instructional videos. The videos will take you on a journey from coaching a nonspeaker to type on three stencils to typing on a laminated letterboard. We have special topic videos, including one on regulation and one on advanced coaching techniques. We even have a video to answer your C4A Academy Community questions. You won’t want to miss the Moments of Zen at the end of each episode. Our typers have words of wisdom to share with you, including advice for communication partners. We are grateful to NEXT for AUTISM for their continued support of our mission. We hope these videos bring your family hope and joy in the New Year.
