Welcome advocates! C4A Network is our core group of advocates and self-advocates who take action for communication access locally, nationally, and globally. We are delighted to be in the movement for communication rights with you.
Welcome Summer Advocacy Interns!
We are excited to officially welcome our first group of 22 interns to the C4A team. From June through August 2026, they will build the C4A Network, raise awareness about communication rights, and strengthen a growing national movement led by self-advocates.
We are most excited about bringing this group together in community. The interns represent a wide range of experiences, perspectives, and talents, and we believe Group 1 is going to accomplish some amazing things as a team.

Partners in Action
In April, Spellers Freedom Foundation, Hawaii Autism Foundation, and Communication 4 ALL came together with love, urgency, and purpose to make sure every voice is heard.
But for us, #AutismAction month is EVERY month! There are many ways that you can support nonspeakers, spellers, and typers right now, right here.
Our first initiative is the Communication Bill of Rights. On June 13, 2025, the NY State Assembly unanimously passed this short, profound bill. It reads:
In order to ensure that each person with a disability is able to lead a life of dignity, all persons with a disability shall have the right to communicate in their preferred manner and utilize any communication supports that meet their needs.
C4A Network will take the Communication Bill of Rights nationwide. We will provide self-advocates and allies the tools they need to be a coordinated force for change. Together, we can accomplish Communication Equality.

Call to Action
Nonspeakers with Autism and/or apraxia are being denied critical access to communication, endangering their health, safety and personhood.
Take action for spellers and typers today.
Please sign this petition calling for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to provide guidance to protect the rights of nonspeaking people to access the communication methods that work best for them.
This petition seeks guidance that reinforces existing protections for individualized communication access under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and ensures that nonspeaking people are not denied access to communication that meet their needs.

Our Advocacy
Communication 4 ALL is committed to nonpartisan political education. Both Republicans and Democrats supported Elizabeth’s advocacy to gain accommodations for nonspeakers who type for high school equivalency diploma exams. Currently, we are educating public officials on policy imperatives including the reauthorization of the Autism CARES Act.
Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act mandates accommodations that give effective communication to individuals with communication disorders. Communication 4 ALL works to educate lawmakers about how the promise of the Americans with Disabilities Act is not being fulfilled, particularly in schools where students are routinely denied their communication method of choice: spelling on a letterboard or typing on a keyboard with a communication partner.
