Dear friends,
Happy fall! In this season of transformation, we are super excited to announce that Communication 4 ALL has been awarded funding for two strategic initiatives. We received a second grant from NEXT for AUTISM to create the next 10 C4A Academy instructional videos. We will also use the funding to deploy live support sessions for families via Zoom. Our Facebook group has grown to more than 600 families and practitioners who are using C4A Academy to make faster progress teaching nonspeakers to type. Please follow us on social media (@communication4allorg on most platforms) and look out for our first case study: Leon, a six-year-old boy who went from squirming in a chair to typing his thoughts in six months.
A second strategic initiative, Regulation 4 ALL, will benefit from generous funding from The Hilibrand Foundation. We are partnering with Dr. Elizabeth Torres, who leads the Rutgers University Sensory Integration Motion Lab, to conduct a three-month Heart Rate Variability (HRV) study with 50 non- and minimal speakers. This study builds on her decades of research and my two-year experiment using HRV data and natural interventions to get out of fight-or-flight mode. We continue to reach nonspeakers around the world at conferences, at schools, and with books and podcasts (see below). I am honored to be the Special Guest presenter with Temple Grandin at the Autism Parenting Summit on October 11-14. Last spring’s global, virtual event had 46,000 registrants. My presentation “Rethinking Autism: Communication and Education for ALL!” will air on October 12 from 9:30 to 10:30AM EDT. Register for free here and join us.
